Golden Globes 2015 Nominations News: ‘Birdman’ Leads with Seven Nominations, 'Boyhood’ ‘Selma' & More Among Top Picks
The complete list of nominees for the Golden Globes was released on Thursday and films such as 'Birdman', 'Selma', 'The Imitation Game' and 'Boyhood' found themselves at the top of the awards heap with numerous nominations.
'Birdman', the dark comedy directed by Alejandro Inarritu, found itself at the very top with seven nominations in categories such as Best Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Supporting Actress for Emma Stone and more.
'Boyhood', a film that was 12 years in the making, came out with five nominations with Best Drama, Best Supporting Actor for Ethan Hawke, Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette and more.
'The Imitation Game' also garnered five nominations with Best Drama, Best Original Score, Best Actor for leading man Benedict Cumberbatch and more.
The Ava DuVernay-helmed 'Selma' was nowhere to be found on the Screen Actors Guild shortlist announced Wednesday, but was awarded four Globes nominations for Best Drama, Best Director, Best Actor for David Oyelowa and Best Original Song for 'Glory' as sung by John Legend.
With the Globes buzz surrounding 'Selma', it remains to be seen if it will impact more nominations for the Oscars, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Other nominees include 'The Theory of Everything' for Best Drama and Best Actor, 'Big Eyes' for Best Actor and Best Actress, 'How To Train Your Dragon 2' for Best Animated Film, 'Interstellar' for Best Original Score, 'Fargo' for Best TV Movie and Best Actor and many more.
The nominations were decided upon by a jury of 90 international correspondents and the full list of nominations is available on the official website for the Golden Globe Awards.
The 72nd Golden Globe Awards will be held in Beverly Hills on Jan. 11, 2015 and will be co-hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. It will be broadcasted live on NBC from 5 pm to 8 pm.
