‘God’s Not Dead 2’ News: Newsboys' Michael Tait, Duncan Phillips At the Director's Guild of America
The Newsboys members are taking advantage of the limelight, and charming fans in the process, as they attended the premiere of "God's Not Dead" at the Director's Guild of America on last Monday night.
Michael Tait and Duncan Phillips turned on the charm at the red carpet event, which was also attended by the all-star cast of the film along with Audio Adrenaline, which contributed to the soundtrack of "God's Not Dead 2," with "Sounds of the Saints."
Apart from making a cameo, the Newsboys also contributed "Guilty" to the movie's theme song.
"God's Not Dead 2" is the sequel to the 2014 Christian movie that was both a commercial and critical success.
In the sequel, viewers are back to Hope Springs where teacher Grace Wesley is imparting not just history lessons but also valuable teachings of Christ.
"So when Brooke, a hurting student grieving the loss of her brother, reaches out to Grace, their coffee-shop conversation naturally leads to Grace sharing the hope she finds in Christ," the synopsis said. "When Brooke later asks an honest question about Jesus in the classroom, Grace's reasoned response lands her in big trouble-almost before she even finishes giving her answer."
Produced by Pure Flix and stars Melissa Joan Hart, Jesse Metcalf, Ernie Hudson, Ray Wise, Pat Boone, Fred Thompson, Robin Givens, among others, "God's Not Dead 2" will be shown nationwide on Apr. 1.
"The theme of 'God's Not Dead 2,' 'Guilty,' is also featured on Newsboys' latest FairTrade Services recording, Love Riot," according to the press release.
"The critically acclaimed album recently debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart and Top Alternative Albums chart, along with topping numerous other national charts, marking one of the biggest sales weeks for a Christian artist to date this year."
