'Glee' Finale News: Cast Talks Final Days of Filming the Show on 'Ellen'

The musical show that had viewers singing classics and today's hits for six years is finally closing the show's curtain. Cast members Lea Michele, Darren Criss, Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz and Chord Overstreet went on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to discuss their final days on the "Glee" set.

"It was really cathartic," Criss said. During the final filming, when fellow cast member Matt Morrison was singing a song, the entire crew and production came on set, just looking at them.

Apparently, this gesture proved to be an emotional one as many cast members, including those who interviewed with Ellen, shed tears of both sadness and joy.

Ushkowitz said, "It's as if you take every family member and friend that you've ever loved and that you have to say goodbye to and put them all in front of you at once."

Michele went on to say that everyone was crying so much that they had to yell cut in order for the cast to compose themselves.

Ellen then asked the cast if there was any sort of homage to the late Cory Monteith, who played Finn on the show. The cast said yes, there would be a small tribute to him in the finale. Overstreet explained to Ellen that there was a moment during filming that felt very peaceful. Monteith tragically passed away in 2013 from a heroin and alcohol overdose.

Colfer said, 'He was there though. We could feel him. He was there."

The cast then talked about how everyone was taking mementos from the set, including some of the things that they took. The cast plans on keeping up with each other even though the show is done.

Filming ended for the "Glee" cast approximately two weeks ago. The series finale airs Friday, March 20 at 8/7c on Fox.
