‘Girls’ Season 5 Renewal News: Golden Globes 2015 Nominated Series Renewed Days Before Season 4 Premiere
New reports are claiming that HBO's comedy series 'Girls' has been renewed for a fifth season, even before the premiere of its fourth season on January 11, 2015.
The Golden Globes-nominated series, while fans were just getting ready for its fourth season to begin, HBO announced that a fifth season is already in the works.
The news was announced by Michael Lombardo, HBO's programming president, on January 5 during the New York City premiere and screening of the fourth season.
Given the early announcement, there wasn't much news about the fifth season aside from the fact that it's been greenlighted. However, fans can look forward to the new season, which has been described as "biting, funny, touching and surprising."
The team from People Magazine was shown the first five episodes of the season and there are a lot of things to look forward to.
For one thing, Hannah moves to Iowa to join the Iowa Writers Workshop after failing to make it in the publishing world in New York. There she'll get to meet some annoying characters, even a few in her own writing class.
Shoshanna finally graduates from college and is trying to get a job, while Marnie becomes committed to her music career and seems to be falling for Desi because of the songs they wrote together. A new character also steps up named Mimi-Rose Howard, and who knows what she'll be bringing to the table.
Not only that, but Adam's sister Caroline will make an appearance after she found out she was pregnant in last year's finale. Jessa and Adam also get arrested and Desi is still dating Clementine, so who knows what Marnie, and the rest of the girls at that, are going to get into.
'Girls' stars program creator Lena Dunham as Hannah Horvath, Jemima Kirke as Jessa Johansson, Allison Williams as Marnie Michaels, Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna Shapiro, Adam Driver as Adam Sackler and more.
Fans can look forward to new episodes of the show as it airs every Sunday at 9 pm on HBO.
