After "Girl Meets World" season 2 ended with the love triangle between Maya, Riley and Lucas at the forefront, things are going to get even more complicated in season 3 as it focuses on a series of emotional nosedives for the three characters.

An article by Fashion Style reveals that fans of the series are going to get caught in an emotional tailspin as the upcoming season explores new beginnings and conflicts.

While the love triangle between the three underage characters was addressed by the end of the second season, the conflict was not totally resolved and Lucas did not really pick one girl over the other. The open ending of the previous season stands as a teaser for season three, which, according to showrunner Michael Jacobs, is "all about love."

According to Jacobs, while season 2 explored friendship and less complicated issues with love, season 3 will tackle love and the struggles of the three characters in controlling their deepest feelings about sex. In The Wrap, he also confirmed that the teenagers will skate through a totally different environment.

"High school is the most confusing, awful, terrible and ultimately--if you do it right--wonderful springboard into college and the rest of your life," he said.

He also revealed that the issue of love being the theme of the upcoming season may not necessarily mean that there is going to be a love connection for the three characters. Instead, it could mean that they only have to depend on each other as they go through high school life.

"Girl Meets World" season 3 will premiere in the spring of 2016 on Disney Channel.
