'Girl Meets World' Season 3 Release Date News: Fans Petition to Move the Show to Freeform From Disney Channel
The 3rd season of "Girl Meets World" will tackle issues of greater magnitude as Riley, Maya and the rest of the gang begin their journey through high school.
Since the announcement of a 3rd season, showrunner Michael Jacobs has always mentioned about the possibility of tackling bolder subjects in "Girl Meets World" season 3, while still taking into consideration the parameters of the show on Disney Channel as well as the show's young demographic.
Recent reports about the new season's shift in content and tone urged some fans of the series to start a petition to ask that the show be moved to Freeform network, previously known as the ABC Family. According to fans, moving the series to Freeform will no longer make Jacobs worry about the restrictions in storytelling.
The petition also resulted from the petitioners' belief that staying on Disney will never make "Girl Meets World" reach its full potential as a show. Also, the petitioners believe that moving to Freeform will allow the show to air longer than Disney usually allows majority of its shows.
Aside from the call to move "Girl Meets World" from Disney to Freeform, it also claims to cancel the upcoming season if the storyline no longer fits in with the young viewers of the channel. The demographics of Disney Channel start at 6 years old.
The petition is already close to reaching its target signatures. While it is already getting the full support it needs, neither Disney nor Freeform has given any statement on the issue.
In other news, season 2 episodes of the series are now streamed on Netflix.
"Girl Meets World" season 3 airs this coming spring.
