It is revealed in the previous episode that Maya's identity crisis transitioned from bad to worse, as her art teacher informed her that her dynamics with Riley adversely affected her voice.

Another potential angle that puts the girls' relationship in fire is Maya's fast learning skills. According to the publication, the character managed to learn Spanish quickly and this could see Riley struggling when it comes to dealing with the former's skills.

In other news, Maya and Riley are set to go somewhere to find the former's previous self, as per Movie News Guide. It is revealed in the recent "Girl Meets World" trailer that the two friends are going somewhere upstate. In a statement, Maya asked Riley where they were going and the latter responded "to find you."

It is further revealed that Maya and Riley are set to meet Uncle Shawn to ask for his help in "Girl Meets Upstate." Maya is known to have been close to Uncle Shawn, so seeking fro his help is assumed to surprise many. Also, the best friends are set to meet a girl named Sage, who tells them that they have to make a decision on their crush Lucas. Similarly, Lucas has to make a choice between the ladies.
