'Gilmore Girls' Netflix Revival News, Rumors: Luke Dane Remains Same; Melissa McCarthy Not Coming Back
In line with the upcoming "Gilmore Girls" remake, Netflix has revealed that Luke Dane is going to be the same in the series, but Melissa McCarthy will not be returning. Also, series stars Lauren Graham and Yanic Truesdale gave some details on how the series will end.
According to Bustle, Danes is set to remain unchanged in the forthcoming "Gilmore Girls" series revival. As per the publication, the character will still sport his blue baseball cap, which was previously given to him by Lorelei in Christmas way back season 1. It is also revealed that the character is set to display the same personality since the last time fans saw him on television.
With Danes set to return in the upcoming series, Melissa McCarthy is not set to return to "Gilmore Girls," according to HitFix. In her interview with the publication, the actress confirmed that she was not it, but she was "pretty psyched" to see it. She added that they had thought she had been too busy that they had not talked to her about it.
Fans know that McCarthy is set to appear in Paul Feig's modern adaptation of Ivan Reitman's 1984 "Ghostbuster," in which the actress is joined by Kristen Wiig, Sigourney Weaver, and Kate McKinnon, as the all-female Ghostbusters team. Aside from her role in "Gilmore Girls," the actress is also known for her roles in Mark Robert's comedy series "Mike & Molly," as well as in Feig's action comedy crime films "The Heat" and "Spy."
In other news, Graham and Truesdale, who are playing Michael Gerard and Lorelai Gilmore, respectively, also teased what "Gilmore Girls" revival can offer to the viewers. In her interview with TV Line, Graham said that Amy Sherman-Palladino had not realized that she had not known them, adding that it had been helpful not knowing them, since people asked her and she told them that she did not know because she really did not know.
Meanwhile, Truesdale told US Weekly that he had read the script, adding that he had always felt that it had been intriguing, just like everyone else. He said that when he had read the script, he understood that it made sense and he could relate as to why she had known that that would be said.
Set to have four episodes, "Gilmore Girls" remake is set to allocate 90 minutes run time per episode. Their titles correspond to the four seasons - "Winter," "Spring," "Summer," and "Fall."
"Gilmore Girls" is set to air in the latter part of the year. Exact details on additional characters and cast are yet to be revealed.
