‘G.I. Joe 3’ Release Date, News: Paramount Eyeing Martin Campbell of 'James Bond' Films To Direct New Movie

Paramount Pictures is reportedly looking to Martin Campbell, the director of Bond films such as 'GoldenEye', and 'Casino Royale', to helm their upcoming film 'G.I. Joe 3' movie.

No serious negotiations have been made as of yet, but Paramount Pictures and 'G.I. Joe 3' producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura are looking to Campbell to helm their upcoming flick.

"Basically saying, it's Campbell's gig if he wants it," the original source, by the name of Phantom, revealed to Schmoes Know.

Jonathan Lemkin, known for 'Lethal Weapon 4', 'Red Planet', and 'The Devil's Advocate', was announced to be writing the script, which will center on Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, according to IGN. Possibly joining Johnson will be Adrianne Palicki of 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation', who is rumored to be returning as Lady Jaye.

Lemkin will be writing the screenplay as drafted by Evan Daugherty of 'Divergent' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'.

"The last movie was really the set up, in a way, for Roadblock to take over," producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said, according to Ace Showbiz. "Dwayne came aboard a little late last time so we weren't able to do everything I think we can do this time, and really get a story that services what the audience expects out of him, and also as an actor pushes him into areas that you wouldn't normally explore in a big franchise movie perhaps.

He went on to add, "We have not talked about any other cast or anything, because we really need a story to be completely signed off by everybody."

'G.I. Joe 3' is the third film in the 'G.I. Joe' franchise. It follows 2009's 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra', which was directed by Stephen Sommers, and 2013's 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation', directed by Jon M. Chu. On that note, Bonaventura served as the producer for both the previous films.

Production for 'G.I. Joe 3' is set to begin in 2015 while the release is slated for 2016.
