'Ghostbusters' New Movie News: Channing Tatum to Appear in Upcoming Franchise Film?

While Sony has announced that the upcoming movie, "Ghostbusters' will have an female cast, there are reports that suggest that Channing Tatum will be the only male cast member in the movie.

Sony Pictures formed a new production company, Ghost Corps to film the remake of the "Ghostbusters' reboot. The movie will be directed by Paul Feig and written by Dan Aykroyd and Katie Dippold. The movie is all set to start production in June, this year.

Also, Ghost Corps is planning on releasing a new action-centric comedy based on the same theme, according to Deadline.

Ivan Reitman, who is one of the main members of this new franchise, speaking to Deadline and said, "We want to expand the 'Ghostbusters' universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment. This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. "

While director Feig is happy about the all-female casting of the show, the Internet's response hasn't been so great. Feig responded, saying, "The Internet is really funny -- I love it, but I hate it at the same time. The first wave when you make an announcement like that is overwhelmingly positive. Everyone's so happy and you're like, "This is great.' Then comes the second wave and you're like, "Oh my God. Some of the most vile, misogynistic s"” I've ever seen in my life,'" according to Deadline.

However, director Aykroyd said he wants another Ghostbusters movie, aside from the one that is directed by Feig, which will have an all-male cast. While the news about Tatum's role is not confirmed by Sony, there are reports that suggest that Chris Pratt might be in the movie as well.
