'Ghostbusters' Movie Reboot News: Director Paul Feig Reveals New Ecto-1 Vehicle
Some time back, 'Ghostbusters' director Paul Feig took to his Twitter handle to post some details regarding the upcoming 'Ghostbusters' reboot. Then he shared the new costumes and props of the movie with fans, while recently Feig showed a photograph of the latest Ecto-1 vehicle - the archetypal ride of on-call parapsychologists.
According to Christian Today, though some fans would have preferred to see a contemporary and high-tech vehicle to match with modern times, Feig chose to use an old-world car that looks like it belongs to the 1980s era. In fact, the classic 'Ghostbusters' was released in 1984.
In fact, the new Ecto-1 car was deliberately made to look old, featuring detailed hood ornaments, black and yellow pinstripes bar, a big lemon-cherry siren, in addition to the famous Ghostbusters logo.
Meanwhile many 'Ghostbusters' fans have expressed their views in various social media sites such as Twitter, and some of them have told Feig that the new Ecto-1 looks awful. Some others have said that it is wonderful.
In addition, one fan tweeted accusing the film as a means to placate feminist groups as a consequence of the new cast. However, Feige has clarified that the movie is being made to present outstanding comedy actors from any gender, something similar to the original movie.
The 'Ghostbusters' reboot was announced for the first time on Aug. 2, 2014, and it received mixed reactions from the fans of the original worldwide. While some fans strongly opposed the remake of the classic comedy film, there were others who were not pleased with the movie's all-female cast.
The all-girl team comprises great comedy actress including Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. They will be replacing the original Ghostbusters - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and the late Harold Ramis.
Apart from the four main all-female cast members, the movie will also star Andy Garcia as the Mayor of New York City, Michael Kenneth Williams as a character named Hawkins, Matt Walsh as Rourke, Chris Hemsworth receptionist of the team named Kevin, and "Saturday Night Live" alum Cecily Strong in a role that is yet to be disclosed.
The 'Ghostbusters' reboot will premiere on July 22, 2016.
