'Ghostbusters 3' Movie Cast News: Sigourney Weaver Open to Cameo in Upcoming All-Female Cast Film
Actress Sigourney Weaver, who starred in several popular films, including the original 'Ghostbusters' way back in the '80s, has said that she is open to a cameo role in the upcoming reboot version. In the original film, Weaver portrayed the character of Dana Barrett, the only non-ghost character fighting character, who was best known as the love interest of Mr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray).
According to Christian Today, at a recent press meet organized to promote the film 'Chappie' in New York, Weaver reminisced about her role in the original film. The report says that when Screen Rant asked the actress about the upcoming film being produced by Paul Feig, Weaver seemed to be virtually thrilled on what the all-female adaptation of the movie will offer GB fans.
While there is still no news regarding Weaver or any other actor from the original film and 'Ghostbusters 3,' she was asked whether there was any possibility of her starring in the rebooted movie. According to the actress, she is open to doing a cameo in the upcoming movie. In fact, the producers have yet to officially announce if the original 'Ghostbuster' characters like Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, or even Rick Moranis, would be returning to the upcoming film.
Nevertheless, as the 'Ghostbusters 3' will have a new and all-female cast, it would be prudent to include Weaver in the new film. In fact, it would be a wonderful idea for her to portray the role of a giant marshmallow woman in the upcoming movie.
However, everything depends on the creative ideas of the writers. According to reports, the rebooted 'Ghostbusters' will not be a continuation of the original film. Therefore, the chances of tying it up with Weaver as well as the remaining cast of 'Ghostbusters' seem to be bleak.
While Weaver's role as Dana Barrett doesn't seem a likely scenario, the ghost-angle could possibly seem sensible. On the other hand, it makes sense for her to appear in the film at a later period, where the new female 'Ghostbusters' could ask her about the previous run-ins the original ghost-fighting team in the '80s.
As of now, it is expected that the rebooted 'Ghostbusters' movie will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
