'Ghost In The Shell' New Movie News: Film Moves Forward with Scarlet Johansson Leading
A live action 'Ghost In The Shell' adaptation was rumored a couple months ago, however we now have a real confirmation in its production with Scarlett Johansson leading.
Johansson will reportedly be working with 'Snow White and the Huntsmen' director Rupert Sanders.
"It's happening. It will be shooting the beginning of next year, so I think we start production January or February and it's me and Rupert [Sanders]; and that's all I know," Johansson told Collider.
Johansson's recent track record in action films made her a perfect candidate to helm this long awaited project.
"The number of actresses that studios are willing to bank on to lead their blockbuster films is sadly small, with only a handful of names landing on those kinds of shortlists. Scarlett Johansson is one of them, not only proving successful as Black Widow in the Marvel films, but also as the lead of last year's original actioner Lucy," writes Collider.
The 'Ghost in the Shell' adaptation has been in the works for over six years now, and if all things fall into place soon enough, they expect to begin filming by next year.
