A teaser trailer for "Ghost in the Shell" was released and it seemed to confirm previous news reports about the film sticking to the source material.

The film has a lot to live up to. Apart from the complaints about white-washing the film by hiring a western actor to play Major Motoko Kusanagi (Scarlett Johansson), there were also concerns about the movie deviating from the highly popular anime.

There were some disappointing Hollywood version of anime classics such as "Dragon Ball Z" for example, or "Avatar."

But according to this news review from Screenrant, "Ghost in the Shell" is off to a good start based on the teaser trailer seems to recall the opening sequence of the anime. There were also some similar shots between the anime and the live action adaptation.

The synopsis for "Ghost in the Shell" read:

"The year is 2029. The world has become intensively information oriented and humans are well-connected to the network. Crime has developed into a sophisticated stage by hacking into the interactive network. To prevent this, Section 9 is formed. These are cyborgs with incredible strengths and abilities that can access any network on Earth."

Director Rupert Sanders, meanwhile, reacted to news reports about the whitewashing of "Ghost in the Shell." In a Q&A at a recent event, he said that hiring Scarlett Johansson was a no-brainer considering that "she's the best actress of her generation."

"I think so many of the people around the original anime have been vehemently in support of her because she's incredible, and there are very few like her," he added.
