George R.R. Martin News: Will the ‘Winds of Winter’ Author Attend San Diego Comic-Con 2015?
Despite initial doubts, now it seems that author George R.R. Martin will be eventually attending the San Diego Comic-Con 2015, albeit not in person.
According to Christian Today, earlier the author of "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series, which formed the basis for the popular HBO TV series 'Game of Thrones,' had announced that he might have to cancel his appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, as he is busy trying to complete the sixth novel of the series, "Winds of Winter," before the premiere of 'Game of Thrones' Season 6.
However, recent tweets by the author suggest that he will probably grace the annual multi-genre entertainment convention, which will be held in San Diego from July 9 -12, 2015.
A recent Twitter post by Martin shows a photograph of him and his mini version. In fact, the latter is set to appear in the international convention at the San Diego Convention Center. The little George R.R. Martin is actually a plushy toy that will be sent to the Comic-Con 2015 to take his place.
Although the fans of the reputed author may not be happy with the fact that a plush toy or little GRRM will be greeting them at the Comic-Con 2015 instead of the author himself, they ought to be happy that he remains committed to his promise of releasing "The Winds of Winter" ahead of the Game of Thrones' Season 6 premiere next year.
As HBO has concluded the 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 recently, it means that the popular TV show will be short of material to form the base of the show. In fact, this is the first time that fans are actually clueless regarding the plot of the series, as the events from the past five seasons were all taken from the five books from "A Song of Ice and Fire," which were published before their TV adaptation. Precisely speaking, the novels as well as the TV adaptation have been left hanging since the author is yet to complete "The Winds of Winter."
However, recent reports state that the cast and crew of the show have already begun working on developing the new episodes for 'Game of Thrones' Season 6. Does this hint that Martin is already finished with the book?
According to earlier rumors, 'The Winds of Winter' is already complete as the 'Game of Thrones' director Jack Bender told fans that he has already read the first draft of book six. However, sources claim that Bender may possibly have been confused with the question, and he was talking about the first draft of 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 and not the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book six.
Meanwhile, Martin has addressed these rumors on his LiveJournal account, saying, "Never believe rumors. I've said that a thousand times."
