George & Amal Clooney News: Hollywood Couple Debuts at Golden Globe Awards
The recent Golden Globe Awards had many Hollywood celebrities gracing the red carpet but the most intriguing and eye catching of all, according to several reports, were newlyweds George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin-Clooney.
The two first debuted during the event so many really did look forward in seeing them together for the first time in their first public appearance as husband and wife. Clooney wore a classic Armani coat and tie, as he usually does, and Almuddin wore a black one-shouldered Dior Haute Couture gown accessorising it with her own white gloves and Harry Winston jewels.
In their interview with E! News' Ryan Seacrest, Clooney and Almuddin were seen to be in great spirits as they joked about walking on the red carpet. "As long as she doesn't get the train stepped on, then I've succeeded," Clooney jokingly told Seacrest while he was being interviewed about their attire for the night.
The event although seemingly used to debut their first red carpet appearance as a couple, Clooney was also apparently there to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award. "The HFPA is honored to bestow the Cecil B. DeMille Award to George Clooney to celebrate his outstanding contributions both in front of and behind the camera," Theo Kingma, the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) shared in a press release last September 2014.
The award was reportedly given to several other Hollywood actors and actresses for their excellence in the field. The list includes Woody Allen, Jodie Foster, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Warren Beatty, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Williams, Michael Douglas, Gene Hackman, Harrison Ford, Al Pacino and Barbra Streisand.
Not only that, Clooney reportedly was also recognized for his tireless humanitarian efforts in being the U.N. Messenger of Peace and others including his work in Darfur. Clooney has received a total of four Golden Globes in his acting career.
