'Gears Of War 4' Gameplay News: Cinematic Trailer Shows Gun-Wielding Monsters And Horror Elements
New details on the gameplay of The Coalition and Microsoft Studios' "Gears of War 4" have surfaced. Also, reports say that the title integrates some elements of horror.
The game trailer, which is comparable to cinematic trailers, opens with three soldiers entering an abandoned building. Then, they see an alien, but they don't shoot it. The alien digs underground, until the ground starts to react, yielding some light, liquefy, and giving rise to an evolved, more colossal monster.
Following its transformation, the alien takes a gun from a deceased soldier and makes a stance, which indicates its readiness for combat; it is assumed that its knowledge how to utilize weaponry makes it different from other alien shooting games. Further sequences see the characters fight against the monsters with guns, knives, and explosives. They are forced to defend themselves since the monsters can also shoot them with their guns.
"Gears of War 4" is set to blend action with horror, according to Engadget. The website reports that this is The Coalition's way of shifting gears from a common shoot, hide, and forward tactic, to a more different approach.
In a statement, The Coaliton creative director Chuck Osieja said that the characters were experiencing the Swarm for the first time, so they had wanted to create a tone that had been in line with that.
"Gears of War 4" is The Coalition and Microsoft Studios' upcoming third-person shooting video game, and the fourth installment in the "Gears of War" game series. Set 25 years after the Imulsion Countermeasure Weapon terminated all Imulsion across the planet named Sera, man is forced to adapt new survival methods.
The Coalition and Microsoft Studios' "Gears of War 4" is set to be released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One on Oct. 11.
