Samsung Gear VR 2 Release Date, Price News: Upcoming Headset Given New Exterior

Tech news sites are buzzing about the all-black exterior of the Samsung Gear VR 2, but there are other goodies in the new headset that will surely please users.

Gizmodo said that the entry-level headset now features a USB Type-C connection, although it could not be tested whether or not the new addition will impact on the performance.

The report speculated that there might not be some major difference in the performance, although the USB open up a whole world of opportunities for Samsung to offer more accessories in the future.

Also, Gizmodo shared the good news about the Samsung Gear VR 2 being offered for free when people preorder the Galaxy Note 7, which will be launched on Sept. 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the first device from the South Korean company that makes use of the USB Type-C connector. That's the reason why the Gear VR 2 will also be launched.

While the news about the Samsung Gear VR 2 is scarce, the South Korean company announces some facelift on the first-gen headset.

According to Wired, aside from the wider field of view for the user, Samsung also addressed the complaints about reflections from its earlier white model. Meanwhile, the touchpads were also altered to be bigger and quite recessed, as well as the addition of a dedicated button for Oculus.

The best news so far is that even with all the changes, the headset remains at the same $99 price point. Now, if only Samsung will offer more news about its Gear VR 2, it would have been perfect.
