GE New Smart-Home Appliances 2015: Household Appliances Controlled With Your Smartphone
There are already some network connected appliances available on the market today, but GE is planning to take it one step further by coming up with Profile, a full range of smart-home appliances that the user can control by using their smartphones.
Appliances such as the refrigerator, laundry, water heater, ovens, dishwasher and more have been given the GE Profile treatment, and are all supposedly accessible via smartphone. So far the Profile oven is the only one out on the market, with a water heater set to be released in February, but GE has a lot in store for the other appliances that it will be releasing throughout 2015.
GE announced its new line of appliances during the press conference for the upcoming International 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to CNET. They also explained that some of the appliances are compatible with GE's smart-home platform and fresh mobile applications.
The company also released more information about its upcoming Profile line through its official GE Appliances website.
One of the products introduced on the list is a series of wall ovens or ranges, where users can set the appliance to preheat, set the timer, check cooking status and receive notifications through their phone.
Another appliance is a dishwasher, that will be available late this year, which will alert the user of any blockages or if the wash is finished. Evidently, GE plans to sync the washer and the dryer be means of a network.
Beyond that, GE plans a French door bottom-freeze refrigerator, which will come out in April, which will notify users if the door of the refrigerator has been left open, if there is ice in the bin or not and will provide reminders as to the temperature and contents of the fridge.
The general manger of GE connected appliances Liz VerSchure stated, "At GE, we're using connected appliances to help homeowners maintain their products, save time and give peace of mind."
