'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 Premiere News: Unfavorable Weather Postpones Filming; Showrunners Confirm Delay

"Game of Thrones" fans may have to wait longer than expected before the series returns for its 7th season.

Creators of the series revealed that filming for the next installment has been delayed due to bad weather conditions. The announcement was made by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss through an Ultimate Fighting Championship podcast.

"Season 7 will probably air a little bit later," the series creators said.

"Because at the end of this season, 'Winter is here.' And that means that sunny weather doesn't really serve our purposes anymore. We kind of pushed everything, so we could get some grim, gray weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot," they added.

The first six seasons of the series premiered sometime between March and April. While the creators of the show have not yet set any definite air date for the upcoming installment, they confirmed that season 7 will be delayed.

Benioff and Weiss also confirmed that the last two seasons of the series will be shorter compared with the first six seasons.

"We'll probably do seven. The two seasons will be a bit shorter," said Beinoff.

He noted that while they do not have a definite episode count per season, each season will run a bit shorter as it takes longer and longer to shoot each year. In fact, Weiss revealed that they are still not very sure how many episodes are remaining in the series up until now.

Despite the uncertainties, Benioff said they have no doubts as to how the show will end.

"For us, we know where we're going. We know how the final season is going to end. We could write the final episode right now if we had to," he said.
