While several months remain before the premiere of 'Game of Thrones' Season 6, fans of the fantasy television drama series on HBO have come up with a brand new theory, speculating that Meera Reed, who together with her brother Jojen shows Bran the way to the Three-Eyed Raven, is actually Jon Snow's twin sister!

According to IB Times, the latest conjecture is rooted in the assumption that Jon Snow is the child of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. However, Lyanna did not just give birth to Jon in the Tower of Joy before her death. Instead she gave birth to twins - a boy and a girl, the theory hypothesizes.

Going by the latest theory, when Ned Stark raided the Tower of Joy to free his sisters, Meera's father Howland Reed was the only other survivor besides Ned. It is speculated that the twins were separated to protect them, and consequently Meera was given to Howland.

The theory posted on Reddit questions, "What if Ned had Howland take Meera back to Greywater Watch to raise Meera as his own and Ned took Jon back to Winterfell to raise because bringing two bastards back would seem suspicious?"

Another Reddit user, who also asked the same question almost two years back, wrote, "Howland certainly owes Lyanna a debt, which we know thanks to the story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree. Him taking a second child and hiding it at Greywater Watch could certainly have happened in the time between the TOJ and Ned returning to Winterfell... Is there a more perfect place to hide someone who doesn't want to be found than Greywater Watch?"

The interesting Reddit thread further mentioned that Meera's physical characteristics are similar to those of the other Starks. For example, Meera is not only slim and flat-chested like Lyanna and Arya, but she is considered to be attractive - not traditionally beautiful. Similar to her supposed mother Lyanna, Meera is also known to have a fiery personality.

Aside from these, the fact that Jon and Meera are of the same age seems to be supporting the theory that they are twin siblings.

'Game of Thrones' as well as the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R.R. Martin, which forms the basis of the television adaptation, will be released in early 2016.
