'Game of Thrones' cast and crew will be returning to the Markovi Kuli Towers to film the next season of the fantasy television drama based of author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series on HBO. In addition to filming in various locations in Macedonia, the producers of the show also plant to shoot the episodes of Season 6 in Spain.

Citing a report in Express, IB Times reports that some scenes of 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 finale were shot at the Markovi Kuli Towers in Macedonia The location comprises ruins of the fortress that is said to have belonged to a medieval ruler called Marko Mrnjavcevic. It is reported that scenes of the fantasy city of Meereen were filmed at this location.

The report in Express speculates that the production may film scenes involving Daario Naharis (Michael Huisman) and Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) at this location for 'Game of Thrones' Season 6, in addition to scenes involving Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and the Dothraki horde. According to members of the production, the location is "rocky and barren," while the weather is mostly hot.

The report further states that 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 will also be filmed at other locations in Macedonia, including the city of Prilep, Orhid and the eastern regions of Krivolak. While filming is scheduled to begin in July, the producers of the show have already visited these locations.

According to the report, 'Game of Thrones' cast and crew earlier filmed scenes of the popular series in various regions of Croatia, Morocco, Northern Ireland and Iceland. Some scenes of the show's Season 5 were also filmed in Spain. Watchers on the Wall reports that the cast and crew may also return to Spain to film some scenes of Season 6.

This report states that the city of Almeria, Spain, may be a new location for 'Game of Thrones' Season 6. Incidentally, Almeria is in the same province as Seville, where some of the scenes in Season 5 were filmed.
