'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Spoilers: Crew Films New Episodes in Spain and Ireland
A recent announcement by HBO said that the cast and crew of 'Game of Thrones' will once again visit Spain to film several scenes of the Season 6 of the show. As soon as Entertainment Weekly reported the announcement, it led to widespread speculations that the Drone's Water Gardens may again feature in the upcoming season, as this area of Westeros was entirely filmed at The Royal Alcazar in Selville.
According to Christian Today, currently Jaime Lannister (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau) and Bronn (Jerome Flynn) are being held captive in the Water Gardens for their endeavor to rescue Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free). It is likely that this storyline will be continued in the sixth season of the series.
Nevertheless, the location listing provided by HBO did not include Seville or the city of Osuna, where some scenes of the series' current season were filmed. On the other hand, HBO had announced that filming will take place in the Spanish cities of Peniscola and Girona. However, it is possible that Dorne would still enter into conflict against King's Landing in 'Game of Thrones' Season 6, as Jaime and Bronn continue to be in their custody.
Meanwhile, Spain is eager to welcome the 'Game of Thrones' production back with open arms since the show has immensely helped in boosting Seville and Osuna's local tourism. In October 2014, James Costos, the U.S. ambassador to Spain, had remarked that tourism in these two cities increased by 15 percent just in the first two weeks of 'Game of Throne' filming.
Besides Spain, it has been confirmed that the 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 will also be filmed in Ireland, as the series production is centrally based in this country.
In the meantime, the 'Game of Thrones' fan-based online community called Watchers on the Wall has published an unofficial casting list for the show's Season 6 collecting information from several sources. Some of these characters are believed to be debuting in Season 6. They include a cunning, middle-aged pirate believed to be Theon Greyjoy's uncle Euron; humorless, disciplinarian former soldier, which could possibly be Sam Tarly's abusive father Randyll; Sam's brother Dickon, their mother Melesa, and one of his sisters named Talla; and a former soldier turned rural priest Septon Meribald.
The 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 finale will be aired on June 14, while production for Season 6 will commence in July.
