'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Spoilers: Darker Tones Expected on April 12 Premiere Episode
The fifth season world premiere for HBO's smash hit series "Game of Thrones" started off with a bang. During the premiere at the Tower of London, Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) hinted that there would be a lot of darker tones in the new season.
"This season is quite dark," he said in a short interview with People. "There are a lot of characters on journey in the show, there were going in one direction and now suddenly they are going somewhere completely different, but things come to a head, and there's some really dark stuff coming."
Cast members were bombarded with questions of all sorts during the premiere. However, they remained to be tight-lipped so as to not spoil anything for viewers.
The Tower of London was the perfection location for the bloody TV show. John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly, said of the location, "The place reminds you of the history we're trying to capture with our show."
According to series co-writer DB Weiss, the location was "the Throniest [one] we could imagine." The Tower of London connects to the time of the War of the Roses, where royalty such as kings and princes were murdered and held captive.
The series has caught up with the "Game of Thrones" book series written by George R.R. Martin.
"From this point on, none of us know what happens next," said Aidan Gillen, who plays Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish. "I've always thought of it as a collective adventure for the actors, writers, filmmakers and the audience, and it has been. But the amperage just gets turned up a little from now."
