'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Release Date News: HBO Series Air Date Lands April 12, 2015

Fans were finally graced with the news on when they can expect to see the smash hit HBO series, 'Game of Thrones' back on the air in its fifth season.

'Game of Thrones' plans to return Sunday, April 12th, along with the season premiere of show's 'Silicon Valley', and 'Veep'. The episodes for the popular programming will all air on HBO back to back.

On that note, 'Veep' will be returning to it's fourth season, as "Silicon Valley" it's second.

Stepping back into the 'Game of Thrones', the news for the show's return came by means of a tweet on the show's Twitter account stating, "Send a raven and spread the word".

The show has solidified it's popularity in being cleared for two seasons last year, and also being crowned as the most pirated television show ever.

"Based on the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' saga by George R.R. Martin, 'Game of Thrones' has been the crown jewel in the network's crown - passing 'The Sopranos' last season as the highest-rated show in HBO history," according to NY Daily News.

However, details concerning what we can expect from the upcoming season have been scarce.

"Thrones fans have seen practically nothing from the new season so far and over the next few months there are several key assets yet to be revealed. HBO has yet to release photos from the new season or a trailer of the eagerly awaited new season. There have been a couple teasers, a few seconds each, largely consisting of old footage," writes Entertainment Weekly.

The only thing HBO has offered fans is the promising IMAX presentation of the series last two episodes. Respectively the showing is said to feature a preview of the upcoming season.

This will be the first time IMAX has aired a television show in their theaters. On that note, fans can catch this unique opportunity on January 23rd.
