'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Premiere Date News: HBO Series Returning April 12, 2015

The HBO series 'Game of Thrones' will continue with its fifth season, as it's set to premiere on April 12th. The return date was announced last Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour.

The dramatic television series tells the story of several royal characters in their tragic, and often violent fight for throne. The fourth season aired from April to June last year and was vastly popular, grabbing fans from all over the world. The show is based on a book series authored by George R.R. Martin, which is not yet complete. Even the actors in the television show do not know who will win the 'Game of Thrones'.

If you are of the fan of the show, you will also be excited to learn that the 'Game of Thrones' series will also be shown in 150 theaters. Two of the last episodes of Season 4 and an exclusive trailer for the new season will show, running from January 23rd to 29th. The episodes and trailer will also be up for sale sometime before the fifth season starts.

HBO revealed that the return of the show will bring more details on Cersei Lannister and her history and character.

Flashbacks will give 'Game of Thrones' fans a little more insight into her first childhood encounter with Maggy the Frog, with actress Nell Williams playing Cersei's child self. Cersei Lannister is currently being played by Lena Headey.

"They've built it the right way," actor Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow, commented to RadioTimes, "It's progressed in the right way story-wise. It's so brilliant this year." Unfortunately, that's all he gave on the new season, so fans will have to wait for 'Game of Thrones' to return to HBO on April 12th at 9 pm to find out more.
