'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Leaked Episode News: HBO 'Actively' Investigating Leak
The highly anticipated premiere of 'Game of Thrones' season five fell flat as the first four episodes leaked online, just hours before the actual premiere.
With regards to the leak, HBO issued this statement on the situation yesterday, "Sadly, it seems the leaked four episodes of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones originated from within a group approved by HBO to receive them. We're actively assessing how this breach occurred."
'Game of Thrones' remains the most pirated show ever, and this leak only solidifies this fact. Within the first three hours of the leaks hitting torrent sites, the episodes were already being downloaded by over 100,000 people.
"Ironically, the latest leak comes just as HBO is making GOT available to non-subscribers via HBO Now and Sling TV and is premiering the show simultaneously in 170 countries so fewer fans are tempted to go the piracy route," writes Deadline.
The network is currently moving forward with their regularly scheduled showing of all the episodes. The fifth season of 'Game of Thrones' is slated for 10 episodes.
