'Game Of Thrones' Prequel Series News Update: Initial Talks Started, But Nothing Set In Stone Yet?
Fans have been salivating about the possibility after it was announced that the "Game of Thrones" prequel series may be in the works. For now, however, it's still very much up in the air.
Casey Bloys, HBO network programming president, confirmed that the "Game of Thrones" prequel series is still in the "preliminary ongoing talks" stage right now. But George R. R. Martin is on board with the project.
"There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn't point to any one and say, 'This is what we're going to do.'" But he said, "I'll take as much as we can get,"
Author George R. R. Martin had said that he has some ideas about the "Game of Thrones" prequel series since he already has "thousands of pages" lying around which will provide the background for the HBO show.
"There is certainly no lack of material," he said. "Every episode of The Naked City, one of the television shows I watched as a kid, ended with a voiceover: 'There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.'"
The news about the "Game of Thrones" prequel series was first announced by former HBO programming president Michael Lombardo last year, but he said it will still be up to showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.
The "Game of Thrones" is expected to last two more seasons, but Lombardo said George R. R. Martin still has a lot of material that can be mined for a prequel series.
Watch out for more news on the "Game of Thrones" prequel series, which will be published here when any new information comes along.
