'Game of Thrones' Cast News: Natalie Dormer Says Men Are Just As Objectified In Media As Women

'Game of Thrones' star Natalie Dormer recently responded to a certain allegation actress Emma Thompson made about the objectification of women in the media.

"So I get behind as many young female performers as I can and actually a lot of the conversations I have with them are about exactly the fact that we are facing and writing about the same things and nothing has changed, and that some forms of sexism and unpleasantness to women have become more entrenched and indeed more prevalent," Thompson told Radio Times.

While this statement was in regards to her recent casting as a 77 year old woman, it can also be linked back to the criticism of Dormer's HBO series, 'Game of Thrones.'

Dormer was later interviewed by the same outlet and disagreed with Thompson's statement saying that in the industry men are just as objectified.

"My personal experience has been to work on phenomenal jobs in which the men are objectified as much as the women," she stated. "Actors suffer from it, too."

She refutes the point that body image is the most prevalent thing in Hollywood, as overall looks are greatly measured as well.

"We're not just talking about being slim here. We're talking about character actors with big eyes getting typecast in the 'friend' role," she continued. "It's not just about bed-ability: it's about your physicality more generally."

Actor Kit Harrington recently shared the same sentiments in an interview with Page Six, stating that he held disdain for being referred to as a "hunk."

"It really is, and it's in the same way as it is for women," Harington said. "When an actor is seen only for her physical beauty, it can be quite offensive."
