'Game of Thrones' News: Actress Maisie Williams Comments on Emma Watson's 'First-World Feminism'
'Game of Thrones' actress Maisie Williams is apparently no longer interested in Emma Watson's recent undertaking on first-world Feminism. Williams was interviewed and when asked about the social issues that need attention, the actress revealed that there are worse things than Watson's concerns.
Not necessarily against the movement, Williams, in her interview with The Guardian revealed that Watson's recent speech about first-world Feminism "doesn't bother" her since there are different issues like breast cancer research and cyber bullying that needs much more attention.
"There are creepy things that people say online that I shouldn't have to read, but there are bigger things going on in other countries," Williams told The Guardian.
"A lot of what Emma Watson spoke about, I just think, 'that doesn't bother me'. I know things aren't perfect for women in the UK and in America, but there are women in the rest of the world who have it far worse," she added.
The statement was a shock for many since the 'Game of Thrones' star previously praised Watson for her speech at the United Nations in her Twitter post. Now, Williams is reportedly "impatient" according to the news agency about what Watson promotes.
Although according to several reports, society is now shifting to more concerned citizens especially for the younger generation who each have different movements that they support. For Williams, the young actress brings attention to the issue on cyber bullying.
Williams, who revealed that she herself is a victim of cyber bullying, revealed how scary it is being attacked online. "Why do I need to hear what other people think of me? I'm happy," she said and added, "Those years are such a strange, strange time, because you're just constantly trying to do the right thing and be liked. Or just go under the radar and fit in. And before you know it, you're being attacked by everyone and it's really scary."
