'Gambit' Movie Cast News: Lea Seydoux, Abbey Lee, Rebecca Ferguson to Screen Test for Lead Female Role
Having secured Channing Tatum for 'Gambit,' a spin-off 'X-Men' film 20th Century Fox will now screen test three actresses for the female lead role. A recent report in Deadline suggests that the studio has shortlisted three actresses, including Lea Seydoux, Abbey Lee, and Rebecca Ferguson, for the role.
According to Christian Today, though, more often than not, Lea Seydoux is famous for her French film 'Blue is the Warmest Color,' the actress is now making strides in Hollywood with her role in 'Inglorious Basterds' as well as her villainous role in 'Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol.' In addition, she is also appearing as a Bond girl in the upcoming James Bond film, 'Spectre.'
Similarly, Rebecca Ferguson is also generally recognized for featuring in the 'Mission Impossible' franchise. In fact, Ferguson plays the lead female character in the recently released 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.' In addition, the actress also starred in 2014's 'Hercules,' which also starred Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Abbey Lee is known for her work in 'Mad Max: Fury Road' as The Dag. The actress is also starring in 'The Neon Demon' and 'Gods of Egypt.' All these three films are high-profile, especially 'Mad Max.' However, she has not been the lead in any of these upcoming films. Provided she bags the female lead role for 'Gambit,' it will be the most important role in her career as of now.
According to reports, all these three actresses will screen test for the role of Belladonna Boudreaux, who is the head of the Assassins Guild and childhood love of Remy LeBeau aka Gambit.
According to the story in the 'X-Men' comic books, Gambit and Belladonna have both been rivals as well as lovers, at times both at the same time, owing to the rivalries of their guilds and associates. In fact, they were set for marriage with a view to unite the Assassins Guild and the Thieves Guild, of which Gambit eventually became the leader, but their union never took place.
'Gambit' is set to hit theaters on Oct. 7, 2016. However, as of now, there is no information on whether or not the upcoming film will have characters from other 'X-Men' films crossing over like 'Wolverine' (Hugh Jackman) or 'Deadpool' (Ryan Reynolds).
