Galaxy S8 News, Specs Rumors: Samsung Develops Curved Displays For Its High-End Devices?

Will Samsung Galaxy S8 kickstart a new series of curved panels planned by Samsung for its future high-end mobile gadgets?

Samsung exec Koh Dong-jin weighed in on the latest rumors during a recent interview with Korea Herald.

According to the interview, the company found the potential of its Edge technology as the future of the Galaxy S lineup, but that it would only do so, "if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions (for the curved screen)."

Back in May, a Samsung patent for a foldable screen surfaced online. The images were published by Patently Mobile, and show what looks like the design of an old flip-phone. However, it's not clear whether or not the technology will be unveiled for the Galaxy S8.

Although there's no confirmation yet from the mainstream news outlets, it would be unlikely for the Samsung Galaxy S8 to feature a curved panel. What's likely, however, is the South Korean company launching two phones-one a flat screen and the other the S8 Edge.

According to Tech Radar, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is poised to be launched next year, probably in the early part of 2017. There's no other basis for this presumption other the fact that the company typically announces its products at the beginning of each year.

If history will repeat itself, Samsung will probably unveil the new flagship during the Mobile World Congress in February, 2017. However, it won't likely be commercially available until March the same year.

According to news and rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will probably boast a 4K screen, the latest Snapdragon processor as well as the 10 nm chip.
