'G.I. Joe 3' New Movie News: Upcoming Franchise Film Finds New Writer for Third Installment
The third entry in the 'G.I. Joe' franchise moves forward with a new writer to pen the script, while Aaron Berg will be the one behind this movie's script, and set to direct is D.J. Caruso.
"Berg became a hot commodity when his Section 6 spec caused a bidding war, with Universal ponying up $1.2 million against $2 million in late 2013. The project, however, provoked a lawsuit from MGM and James Bond rightsholder Danjaq who claimed it was a Bond knockoff," writes THR.
While the last two movies haven't done too bad box office wise, they haven't exactly been hitting too well with fans of the franchise. The subject matter is often very much altered and is not in line with the original Hasbro toy line's continuity.
The studio is looking for that to change with this movie, as they are actively enlisting new help to steer the franchise in a better direction.
As it stands, there is currently no release date set for the movie.
