FX Network New Series News: ‘The Comedians’ Premieres April 9 with Season 5 of 'Louie'
FX announced on January 18 during the Television Critics Association press tour that their new series "The Comedians" will air on April 9th along with the fifth season of "Louie."
'The Comedians' will star Billy Crystal and Josh Gad and the comedy series will consist of a total of 13 episodes. The new series will debut at 10:00 pm ET/PT. According to FX, "Billy Crystal plays a comedy legend who is reluctantly paired with Josh Gad, an edgier up-and-coming star, in an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look at a fictional late night sketch comedy show where egos and generations collide."
The new series also stars Stephanie Weir who will be playing 'Kristen Laybourne,' the "anxiety-ridden producer behind The Billy & Josh Show who frequently finds herself caught in the middle of Billy and Josh's arguments." Alongside Weir, Matt Oberg, Larry Charles, Matt Nix, Megan Ferguson and Ben Wexler will also be in the show.
The fifth season of Louie will debut after "The Comedians" at 10:30 pm. The series will run for around seven or eight episodes, and the uncertain number is because of the amount of artistic freedom FX gives to Louis C.K. with regards to the show.
Meanwhile, another show is in the works as FX also announced that the network will be airing another comedy special starring Louis C.K. in spring. The show is titled "Louis C.K. Live from the Comedy Store" and will be first available to viewers on Louis CK. The details of the show are yet unknown, but FX promises that it will be an interesting one to watch.
