'Furious 8' Cast News: Jason Statham Confirmed to Reprise Role

It's recently been confirmed that everyone's favorite British anti-hero/villain will be back to reprise his role in the upcoming 'Fast and Furious 8.'

Jason Statham made his debut within the franchise in the last movie and effectively wowed everyone as the chief villain of the film, Deckard Shaw. He got into it with the movie's biggest and baddest stars such as The Rock and Vin Diesel.

He made the announcement in a recent interview with Access Hollywood stating:

"We're already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I'm a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it's nice to know I'm going to be doing another."

The 'Furious' franchise usually keeps the high profile actors that they get to star. It wasn't too long ago that Dwayne Johnson made his debut and took off as one of the series' favorites.

It's not certain on what Statham's role will be in this next movie, however the last viewers saw of his character was in a maximum security solitary prison. Not much is known about the next movie as a whole either.

"Very little is known about the plot for Fast & Furious 8 at this stage, though Diesel has said in the past that it will take place in New York and serve as the second chapter in the trilogy plotline set in motion by Furious 7. That makes the return of the newcomers played by Russell and Statham in Furious 7 all the more logical, as they will serve as recurring players much in the way that comic book characters do in different comic stories and film adaptations alike ('Mr. Nobody', for example, is the Nick Fury of the Fast and the Furious universe)," writes Screen Rant.

The movie hasn't yet locked down a director yet either, but is set to open in theaters on April 14, 2017.
