'Furious 8' Cast News: Dwayne Johnson Talks Upcoming Film and Hobbs Spinoff
At a recent press conference for Fast and Furious 8, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that his character in the Fast and Furious franchise, Hobbs, would be returning for the newest installment in the action series.
In response to being asked whether or not Hobbs would be in the film, Johnson said, "Of course. It can't go on without Hobbs." This is great news for fans of the series and Johnson.
Johnson also responded to rumors that there would be a Hobbs spin off film in the series.
The film was originally speculated to be released between the sixth and seven Fast and Furious, but the answer as to whether it will ever become a reality was a maybe.
Johnson has said that he has recently had a big discussion with the studio, dealing with the possible Hobbs spin off feature.
That movie could prove to be the major action film franchise that Johnson has not yet been able to secure for himself in his acting career.
He is one of the most popular action stars to rise in the last twenty years, quickly transforming from his role as a wrestling fan favorite to one on the big screen.
"We all are interested in it," said Johnson at the prospect of a Hobbs solo film. "I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see. I still think for me personally, we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know but a lot of other people have to have input."
