‘Full House’ Sequel News: Actor John Stamos Confirms ‘Fuller House’ Coming to Netflix
While it has been rumored for a long time now, that a sequel to the '90s hit series 'Full House' was in the making, there was no concrete news in this regard. However, actor John Stamos confirmed on the 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' show on Monday night that work on the sequel was certainly moving forward, the new show will be called 'Fuller House'.
Citing Stamos, Christian Post reports that the online streaming media giant Netflix has officially ordered for 13 episodes, beginning with an hour-long TV special that will show the reunion of the Tanner family. According to reports, the upcoming series will be titled 'Fuller House' and will mainly focus on Candace Cameron Bure, who portrays the character of D.J. Tanner-Fuller, currently a veterinarian who is expecting a third child.
Viewers will also see Stephanie Fuller (Jodie Sweetin), D.J.'s younger sister and an aspiring musician like her Uncle Jesse, moving in to lend a hand in taking care of D.J.'s two boys, J.D. and Max. Along with Stephanie, her best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), who has a teenage daughter of her own, will also be seen moving in.
Talking about the upcoming series, Netflix vice-president (Original Content), Cindy Holland said, "As big fans of the original 'Full House,' we are thrilled to be able to introduce 'Fuller House's' new narrative to existing fans worldwide, who grew up on the original, as well as a new generation of global viewers that have grown up with the Tanners in syndication."
While it appears that Stamos is already onboard and will return as a recurring guest, negotiations are on for signing on the other key cast members of the series like Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and the Olsen twins. According to Stamos, the idea is to bring the entire original cast members back for the one-hour premiere episode.
For the uninitiated, the original show, 'Full House' ran from 1987 to1995 with a total of 192 episodes spread over eight seasons. 'Full House' narrated the stories of Danny Tanner, Jesse Katsapolis, and Joey Gladstone as they helped one another in raising Danny's three daughters.
As of now, 'Fuller House' is scheduled for a 2016 release date.
