‘Frozen 2’ Release Date News, Rumors: Actress Idina Menzel Apologizes for False Hope About Sequel

'Frozen,' the Academy Award-winning animated film, has been so huge that Disney keeps on earning from its merchandise. In fact, there seems to be some magnetic pull about Anna and Elsa that attracts both children and adults alike. Hence, the news of a sequel to the film not only excited the movie goers, but also the actor/singer Idina Menzel, who lent her voice to the character Snow Queen.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Menzel confirmed that the sequel to 'Frozen' as well as the stage musical is currently "all in the works." The actress, however, added that she will not be a part of the stage show.

The report quotes Menzel as saying, "I don't know what will happen with that - but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride."

When Menzel was so confident about the sequel to 'Frozen,' everyone took her word for it and stated believing that 'Frozen 2' is going to happen for sure. Nevertheless, last week Menzel had to withdraw her statement.

Menzel reportedly told Britain's The Times, "Apparently I spoke out of turn. I just assumed because it was so successful there'd be a sequel. I think they're working on [a stage show] but the Disney people keep things close to their chests."

Meanwhile, the LA Times reported that 'Frozen' is the fifth highest earning film from Disney so far. The report further said that Disney's total revenue was to the tune of $1.379 billion and the majority of that was earned from the merchandise.

While Disney has yet to confirm if there will actually be a sequel to 'Frozen,' fans of the animated movie will certainly be happy to learn that a seven-minute short film titled 'Frozen Fever' is ready and will be released in March.

According to reports, 'Frozen Fever' will be shown right before 'Cinderella,' which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 13. The story of this short film revolves around Anna's birthday party, which is being prepared by Elsa.
