'Frozen 2' Movie Details, Spoilers: Producers Disclose What They Are Planning for Elsa and Anna [VIDEO]
The unprecedented success of the 2013 animated movie 'Frozen' surprised everyone, including its creators Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. However, the duo now faces a more daunting task as they are expected to repeat the success of 'Frozen' with its sequel - currently dubbed as 'Frozen 2.'
According to a report in IB Times, following the successful release of the seven-minute short film 'Frozen Fever' before each showing of 'Cinderella' in March, Buck and Lee said that the experience made them excited to take up 'Frozen 2.'
Talking to MTV News, Buck said, "We're just starting," adding, "Jen [Lee] and I are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around. We have an overall idea, a concept, which I think is a very strong one. I'm very excited about doing it."
Although Buck was not in a position to offer any details regarding Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna's (Kristen Bell) crazy adventure in the upcoming movie, get into this time, he admitted that they're hoping to appeal to a modern audience by appreciating the struggles that people deal in these times. He further said that the story will definitely focus on the two leading ladies, whom the fans came to know and love. According to Buck, 'Frozen' introduced two "very strong female leads" and that he as well as Lee intend to stick with them, and expanding upon them in the sequel.
In another interview with Fandango, Buck admitted, "For us, Jen and me, it's been so fun to get back in the room and be with these characters again. These characters are part of us - both for Jen and me. Anna, Kristoff, Elsa, Olaf -- they're all parts of our personality." He added, "So it's fun to play with these characters again and sort of see where we can go next with them. Just like any characters that you love, to see them grow and to see what happens next."
Previous reports said Disney officially announced its plans for a 'Frozen' sequel in March. John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, revealed the news during a shareholder's meeting in San Francisco. He disclosed that, the producers got so a lot of ideas for a sequel while working on the seven-minute short that the Mouse House gave its nod for the project.
Lasseter said, "We enjoyed making 'Frozen Fever' so much and being back in that world with those characters," adding, "Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we're taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that."
Thus far, Kristen Bell and Josh Gad (Olaf) have confirmed that they will return as voice actors in the sequel. However, considering their involvement in 'Frozen Fever' as well as the fact that Buck is name-dropping their characters, it is likely that the remaining cast members too will be on board.
As of now, no scheduled release date for 'Frozen 2' has been announced.
