'Friday the 13th' New Series News: Show Gets Picked Up By The CW
The recently rumored 'Friday the 13th' series has just been confirmed to be arriving to the CW Network.
The series will serve as an adaptation of the long-running horror franchise, and will adopt many of the well-known characters and setting featured in the films.
"I hear that in the series reimagines the masked Jason with a stronger feel of grounded reality. Described as a sophisticated, horror/crime thriller, the potential Friday The 13th series is about the ongoing quest of a detective's search for his missing brother that is somehow tied to Jason Vorhees, a long thought dead serial killer who has now returned to wreak havoc in the new Crystal Lake," writes Deadline.
The storyline was also previously said to explore Jason through multiple timelines. Here's what was previously said on the series:
"The basic premise focuses on the REAL city of Crystal Lake, and the effect that the serialized films had on its real life counterpart. This allows them to reimagine Jason in a more grounded reality, as the films would be based off the real life killings that took place at the Camp. (ie, both the Hockey Masked Jason and a more serious backwoods inspired killer will be making appearances throughout)."
The series is to be written by Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle, who are the creators of the 1996 NBC series 'The Pretender.' It will also be produced by Sean S. Cunningham, the mind behind the original 1980 film.
There is no premiere date on the upcoming series as of yet.
