Fox Network Series Renewal News, Rumors: 'The X-Files' & '24' Return in New Reboot Shows

Fox network executives shared during the Television Critics Association press tour last Saturday their plans to "bring back the glory days" by talking with Simon Cowell and the creators of two of the network's past hit series, 'The X Files' and '24'.

Other than plans of bringing back the two hit shows, Fox has also placed high expectations to 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy, executives said during the press tour and also shared that they would not think twice in bringing back a 'Prison Break' project.

Furthermore, Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEOs of the network Dana Walden and Gary Newman have also announced season renewals for 'Empire', 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and 'Gotham', hoping to achieve a balance for the network's image. According to the network's executives, they are hoping to include more family-friendly shows like 'Master Chef Junior' and 'American Idol'.

Contract renewals for another season of 'Bones' is also in the works and executives are still thinking about bringing back 'Sleepy Hollow' as they are currently making various creative adjustments.

The network has been challenged with ratings over the past few years which is why they are bringing in hard work in order to overtake network rivals CBS, ABC and NBC.

While talks with former 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell are currently ongoing, Newman said that there is "nothing to announce yet." Cowell was one of the symbols of Fox's glory days during the time he was a judge on the early seasons of 'American Idol'.

Thus, it is yet to be seen what Fox has planned for its viewers in 2015 while the critics rate the network's shows.
