Former Disney World Actor Dies After An Accident with Fireworks On The Fourth of July

The fourth of July nationwide celebration was indeed supposed to be a celebration but a tragedy apparently struck the family of a former Disney World actor that day in Maine. It was 22-year-old Devon Staples who personified the character Gaston from Beauty and the Beast in the famous theme park who died accidentally lighting a firework on top of his head.

The former Disney actor was said to be known in his family to always be goofing around wanting to make everybody laugh by all his jokes, besides he is indeed a professional actor having to act as a Disney character for his job.

So in his attempt to be funny by raising a mortar tube and a lighter on his head in his friend's backyard to probably kick off their fourth of July celebration, Staples accidentally lit up the firework which killed him instantly.

It was indeed a tragic incident that didn't leave any chance for Staples to survive. His brother Cody Staples even reported that "There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there," he told the New York Daily News of his brother who was then just feet away from the accident.

"It was a freak accident...But Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid. He was the kind of person who would pretend to do something stupid to make people laugh," he added.

Reportedly, it was the first accident that happened since Maine had legalized fireworks last January 1, 2012. "Apparently, he thought that was a great idea," Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety said in a statement. "His friends they thought dissuaded him from doing it, and the next thing they knew, he ignited the fireworks and he was killed instantly," he added.

Indeed being very careful with things like fireworks are important especially since it could take away a life in an instant.
