Former Bartender Michael Hoyt Indicted For Threatening Congressman John Boehner's Life
A former bartender at an Ohio country club has finally been indicted on charges of threatening to assassinate House Speaker John Boehner last Fall.
The assailant, Michael Hoyt, was let go at the country club when he claimed he "did not have time to put something in John Boehner's drink," according to a criminal complaint.
The complaint also stated, "Hoyt told the officer he was Jesus Christ and that he was going to kill Boehner because Boehner was mean to him at the country club and because Boehner is responsible for Ebola."
Upon also admitting he was in possession of a loaded Beretta .380, Hoyt was detained by the police and volunteered for psychiatric evaluation.
Hoyt has also been reported to have gone through treatment for a past psychotic episode two years ago, and had voluntarily stopped taking the medication he was prescribed for months.
While still under mental evaluation U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI believe he still poses a threat to the Ohio congressman.
"A senior congressional source told Fox News that Hoyt was committed to a mental institution from October through the end of December but then was released. Once he was out, law enforcement felt strongly enough to move to indict him to get him off the street because of the potential threat posed to Boehner," writes Fox News.
"He said some things that really spooked us," said one senior congressional source who is involved in the case.
A spokesman for Boehner, Michael Steel, confirmed the congressman's awareness of the situation and his appreciation of the authorities' help.
"It was not clear why officials waited as long as they did to disclose the charge. The grand jury indictment is dated Jan. 7, but the incident referred to in the papers took place on Oct. 29 of last year, and the complaint itself was filed on Nov. 6," writes Fox News.
