‘Forever’ Premiere Spoilers: TV Ratings Skyrocket, 6 Million Episode 1 Viewers [TEASER]

ABC's new thriller drama, 'Forever', kicked off last Tuesday pulling in more than 6.5 million viewers for its premiere episode. This marks as ABC's second most watched premiere, according to The Futon Critic.

'Forever' stars Ioan Gruffudd as medical examiner Dr. Henry Morgan, who is caught up in a tragic train accident causing his death. Interestingly and perhaps the more profound event is that every time he dies after that, his body resurrects in a body of water like nothing has happened.

At the onset of the series, Morgan is already living 200 years after the mishap and is already developing a close relationship with Detective Jo Martinez. The character is played by Alana De La Garza who is constantly amused by Morgan's strategy in solving crimes.

In Episode 3 titled "Fountain of Youth," while Henry is interested in finding a way to age and die, a wealthy New Yorker invents a special potion to turn back time. The product named Aterna is said to provide long lasting youth, but Henry and his colleagues are only confronted with multiple deaths surrounding the potion. According to a synopsis released by ABC, it turns out that Henry's dear friend, Abe, is also tempted to try Aterna to counter his debilitating disease of tuberculosis.

Den of Geek explained that the success of 'Forever' stems from its ability to connect with reality through compelling story and extraordinary execution.

Other casts include Donnie Keshawarz as Detective Hanson, Barbara Eve Harris as Lieutenant Marcia Roarke, Judd Hirsch as Abe, Mackenzie Mauzy as Abigail, Lee Tergesen as Hans Koehler, Lorraine Toussaint as Lt. Joanna Reece, Joel David Moore as Lucas Wan and Michael Patrick Crane as a forensic technician.

'Forever' airs every Tuesday at 10 pm on ABC.
