Football Transfer 2015 News: Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea & More

Manchester United appeared all set to land a talented winger from Spanish giants Barcelona, until Chelsea swooped in to nab Spanish target Pedro as Chelsea and the 28-year-old have agreed on a deal.

As noted by The Mirror, Pedro has been available all summer for £23 million following a verbal agreement with Barcelona. But the report notes that United tried to haggle over a price, which eventually led to English club losing Pedro to their rivals even after Ed Woodward reportedly flew to Spain to seal the deal.

The development leaves United in a quandary with the transfer window closing in less than two weeks. Louis Van Gaal has a desperate need to add firepower to the club, and has to find a way to make key acquisitions before Sept. 1.

Another United target, 23-year-old Sadio Mane, is reportedly not for sale.

"He is a key part of our team and our planning for the future. He wouldn't be sold," a Southampton official told Sky Sports News HQ.

Mane set the Premier League record for scoring a hat-trick, achieving the feat in an incredible two minutes and 56 seconds against Aston Villa last season.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reports that Real Madrid may be willing to sell Karim Benzema this summer. As noted by the report, while Arsenal was said to have failed with a bid of £45 million for Benzema last week, Real president Florentino Perez may allow the French striker to move if the Gunners up their offer to £50 million.

Should Arsenal opt not to spend more for Benzema, another reported option has been Edinson Cavani as The Express reports that the Uruguayan has been keen to move to the Premier League, and has leaned towards joining the Gunners.

The 28-year-old is valued at around £35 million.
