Sandra Lee News: Food Network Star Returns Home After Breast Cancer Surgery
It was a great celebration last Memorial day for Food Network star Sandra Lee and husband Governor Andrew Cuomo going home from the hospital after undergoing a successful double mastectomy in her battle against breast cancer.
The married couple posted a sweet photo of themselves lounging by their garden playing with their bird pet saying, "Home after a long week in the hospital, so happy to be in my own backyard. There is no place like home! #HappyMemorialDay," Lee wrote on her Facebook page.
Finally, the chef and the TV series star get to rest in her own place she calls Lily Pond and play with her birds that she previously announced she missed. A previous photo of Lee still in the hospital bed was posted on her facebook page announcing her soon return to her home in New Castle.
"Today is an exciting day! Sandra is going home to Lily Pond with her sister Kimber and Governor Cuomo," the previous post read adding, "She is most excited to sleep in her own bed-and see Phoenix and Halo when she wakes up!"
Meanwhile a later post showed Lee holding her white umbrella cockatoo bird writing "My favorite shot with Phoenix. He wanted to cuddle and cuddle and cuddle!" on her Facebook account. The star had been battling cancer since March 27 finding out 20 minutes right before her shoot for People's "Most Beautiful" issue.
It is indeed quite a surprise for Lee who later on had a lumpectomy and was also apparently told to undergo radiation therapy for 6-8 weeks. Lee was very brave in handling her battle with Cancer as she shared in her previous interview. "I didn't even cry, I was stunned," she told Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, a cancer survivor as well. "You know, and that's just how fast life turns. It turns on a dime," she added.
