'Final Fantasy XV' Release Date, News: Game Title Set For September Release; Develops ‘A King’s Tale’ Prequel
Along with a trailer, Square Enix has unveiled the release date for its "Final Fantasy XV."
"Final Fantasy XV" is set to be released on Sept. 30, Entertainment Weekly has learned. As per the publication, the forthcoming game title is set to hit the aforementioned date for the PlayStation 4, which means the release date for the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows is yet to be revealed.
Square Enix has also revealed "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" as its side project. According to iDigital Times, it is a standalone game in 2D format and it follows the young version of King Regis, 30 years before the events of "Final Fantasy XV" took place. Told in a fairy tale fashion, the spin-off is set to feature Cid, along with characters fans and gamers have not seen before.
In the trailer, it is shown that King Regis is now the ruler of Lucis, along with his son Prince Noctis. It is also revealed that the Niflheim empire has managed to move in on the King's leadership and is eager to take control of the latter's kingdom. Also, Niflheim has captured Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae, who is forced to marry Noctis in order to grant their desire of full control of the world.
In line with preserving peace, Lucis' elite warriors, called the Kingslaive, use the power of the sacred Crystal. Along with them is Nyx, who is left with no choice but to lead other soldiers into combat.
Overall, fans are set to see "Final Fantasy XV" on the PlayStation 4 on Sept. 30. Watch the "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV" official trailer here.
