Square Enix is set to unveil "Final Fantasy 7" remake in 2017, according to Famitsu, as translated by Attack of the Fanboy. In his interview with the publication at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016, Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the game remake is still in its early phase of development.

With Nomura's details, it is assumed that it is not feasible for Square Enix to release the said title this year, but next year.
