'Fifty Shades of Grey' Release News: AMC Theaters Ban 'Weapons' At Movie Screenings
While women all over the world have been long awaiting the release of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film after sweating over the trilogy of books, the film has recently undergone a little bit more scrutiny as it approaches its Valentine's Day weekend release.
In the recent days leading up to the film's release there has even been a grassroots campaign encouraging moviegoers to boycott the film all together.
This campaign has been gaining some traction on social media outlet, Twitter and many people have been tweeting up a storm. A lawsuit has even been launched!
With this in mind, it is not really that surprising that AMC theaters had to announce to the movie goers that props are not allowed.
This announcement comes after recent reports in regards to the best seller written by E. L. James that turned into a movie adaptation where "Fifty Shades of Grey" was banned in Malaysia for apparently being too risqué and more of a porn than a film.
While we wouldn't be surprised if this became a cult favorite similar to when 'Harry Potter' or 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' fans show up in dress attire that reflects the film.To some viewers that is even an honored tradition.
This might be a little bit different if the Mr. Grey wannabes don their neckties while the female movie-goers possibly opt for something a little more bedroom-only friendly.
According to Mashable, AMC Theaters' spokesperson, Ryan Noonan stated, "While we welcome those guests who want to show their excitement for a film by dressing up in costume, we do not permit weapons (real or fakes) or props/costumes that would make guests uncomfortable, or detract from the movie going experience."
