'Fifty Shades of Grey' News: 'Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke Considered for Lead Role?

It turns out that Emilia Clarke, of Game of Thrones fame, was considered for the part of Anastasia Steele, the leading role in Fifty Shades of Grey.

However, the actress says that she turned down the part because she was not okay with the excessive nudity in the film.

The role eventually went to Dakota Johnson, as Steele said that she was afraid that she would be typecast, especially considering the fact that she had done nude scenes in the past. In the new issue of Marie Claire magazine, Emilia spoke on the subject.

She said, "I'll never say 'I'm never doing nudity' because I've already done it, but I thought I might get stuck in a pigeonhole that I would have struggled to get out of."

She went on to say that she was interested in working with the director of Fifty Shades of Grey, Sam Taylor-Johnson, but the nudity was a complete turnoff.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said that she had even had two meetings with the director about taking the part, but she has no regrets about making the decision not to take the part.

If working with Sam Taylor Johnson was the only appeal for Emilia to sign on to the film, it is probably better that she took a pass, as Taylor Johnson announced earlier this year that she would be stepping down as director for the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker.

This was due to several on set disagreements with E.L. James, the author of the trilogy upon which the movies are based.
